ARIHE
Association of Reformed
Institutions of Higher Education
The Association of Reformed Institutions
of Higher Education (ARIHE) is at present an association of ten institutions
in the Reformed and Presbyterian Christian tradition. These institutions seek to develop and refine the identity, worldview and educational practices grounded in that tradition. The Presidents and other
administrators of the member institutions are comitted to collaborate
on projects that can nurture the collective Reformed Christian identity
of these institutions and be of mutual benefit.
ARIHE.org also provides resources for those seeking jobs at Reformed institutions. The Job Postings Page offers a listing of job openings at the ARIHE institutions. Please view the Job Postings page for detailed descriptions of job openings as well as contact information to apply for those jobs. Our goal is to provide a one-stop online resource where those seeking jobs at Reformed intuitions can easily browse open positions across all of the ARIHE institutions.
News:
- LECTURER APPOINTED: We are pleased to announce that Dr Deborah Bowen, Professor of English at Redeemer University College, has been selected as the ARIHE Lecturer for 2012-13, following the decision of the membership to have only one lecturer for a one-year period rather than three for two years as in the past. We congratulate Dr Bowen and pray that she may be a blessing as she visits various member campuses. Information about Dr Bowen and the topics of her lectures will be posted in March so that campuses can make their plans to invite her to speak during the 2012-13 academic year.
- CONGRATULATIONS: Our congratulations to several presidents at member institutions who will retire in June of 2012: Dr Gaylen Byker of Calvin College; Dr Niel Nielson of Covenant College; and Dr Carl Zylstra of Dordt College. We also extend our congratulations to Dr Michael Le Roy on his appointment as the next president of Calvin College and welcome him as an ARIHE colleague! God's richest blessing on these transitions.
- NEXT MEETING: Given the anticipated number of presidential inaugurals at member institutions this fall (Covenant, Oct 5; Calvin, Oct 17; and Dordt, Oct 19), there will be no Symposium in the fall of 2012; instead a shortened annual meeting and time of fellowship will be planned at either Calvin or Dordt, depending on logistics and anticipated attendance. Members will be surveyed in June in order to determine the time and place of the meeting.
- NEXT SYMPOSIUM: The next Symposium will take place in the fall of 2013 at The King's University College, focussing on the topic of core curriculum (which would have been the topic at Dordt in 2012). Our thanks to our colleagues at King's for taking this on; we look forward to a fruitful session.
- EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Dr Justin Cooper will complete his service as Executive Director this spring and will be succeeded by Dr Carl Zylstra, effective May 1, 2012. We thank Dr Cooper for his years of service and look forward to the leadership of Dr Zylstra.
